About Us

The Green PEA scheme is managed by a team of Poole–based businessmen and women, who all share the same passion and commitment to drive down carbon emissions and help businesses reduce their energy costs.

The Green PEA CIC is responsible for running the Poole Green PEA scheme, for providing support to other licensed Green PEA schemes and for managing and protecting the Green PEA brand. As a CIC it is a non-profit making organisation, with any surplus money re-invested into the scheme or the local economy.

Paul Cooling

Green PEA Chair

Paul is the Strategic Partnerships & Carbon Reduction Manager for the Borough of Poole and leads the Councils carbon reduction programme. Following the 24% carbon reduction achievements of the Councils assets, the Council took the decision in 2012 to sign the Covenant of Mayors.  This commitment extended the official scope of the programme to work with the whole of the town to reduce Poole’s emissions and energy costs. The first step of this new commitment was to produce a Sustainable Energy Action Plan which set a target of a 30% reduction in Poole’s emissions by 2020 from a 2005 level and outlined the direction of travel required to meet these aims.

The Business sector represents some 269kT of CO2 which is approximately 40% of Poole’s carbon emissions and by working with a dedicated team of local businesses to reduce these emissions to the benefit of the local business community, the Green PEA scheme Community Interest Company was formed.  Green PEA is the Borough’s flagship multi-award winning business engagement scheme and the scheme has been adopted under licence by Christchurch & East Dorset Councils.  The many Businesses participating in the scheme receive free advice and support as to the best technologies to implement to reduce their energy use and costs.  Current savings over a ten year period from installed recommendations amount to savings of £207,018 and 750t CO2.
